Responsibilities:
Ensures that the Packaging Department meets all production schedules, volumes and expectations in a cost effective and safe manner by:
Maintaining appropriate amount of staff on each production line Maintaining sufficient inventory of necessary ingredients, packaging containers and cheese molds Coordinating with Plant Superintendent, Administration as well as Quality Control on the development/implementation of improvements and procedures Continuously improving efficiencies, safety(i.
e.
rotation to decrease repetitive motion injuries), and work environment while eliminating waste and loss Participating in the establishment of production budgets, objectives and goals Learning to operate all machines in the department Ensures that all Packaging functions are working at the appropriate speed needed to meet production goals Ensures that Packaging functions are performed in accordance with plant safety and quality standards as well as company, regulatory and customer expectations including GMPs, HACCP, and SQF Level 2 requirements Understands all regulatory standards in order to comply with inspection/auditing agencies Reports any accidents and safety concerns immediately and completes necessary accident reports Proactively participates in the growth and development of all Packaging employees by:
Ensuring that employees are progressing in the Pay for Skill program Challenging employees to learn new jobs at an appropriate rate for their understanding Initiates corrective action when employee conduct, behavior or performance is deemed necessary (done in partnership with Human Resources) Oversees other Production areas as necessary Performs other duties as assigned Job Requirements:
Solid understanding of cheese making and food packaging operations HACCP and SQF certification Proven record of increasing productivity, improving retention and leading a successful team while maintaining high quality Effective communication and leadership skills Job Type:
