Monitor animal health and production.
Keep current on accepted practices and methods related to animal health.
Manage Poultry Care Attendants including scheduling and performance management by providing daily and regularly scheduled feedback.
Monitor and ensure team members are following UEP and American Humane guidelines at all times.
Twice daily inspection of poultry housing systems (Feed, Lights, Air, Water, Sanitation, FLAWS) to ensure that all systems are working properly.
Oversee procedures and processes related to poultry husbandry including mortality inspections, routine house cleaning, manure/litter management, feed and water usage, light schedules and ventilation.
Maintain all associated records for flock management and certifications.
Responsible for execution of all related certification programs.

Lead by example.
Play a key role in the farm management team; participate in team meetings and facilitate poultry care team meetings.
Look for opportunities to eliminate re-work, waste, etc.
, and inform Safety and Operations Manager of potential hazards.
Set up/monitor AEI/PMSI/Pulse environmental control systems.
Respond to alarms.
Participates in applicable audits.
Interface closely with Director of Poultry Management, Site/General Manager, Feed Mill Manager, and Maintenance Manager.
Perform other duties as requested.
The Layer Production Manager will be an effective communicator, communicating with the Director of Poultry Management, Feed Mill Manager, Maintenance Manager, and the General/Site Manager on production planning, farm and flock performance, animal health and nutrition management decisions.
The Layer Production Manager also needs to have:
Knowledge of pullet husbandry.
General knowledge of the regulations and standards for Safe Quality Foods, OSHA, HAACP, Eggland's Best, FDA, Animal Care standards, and USDA.
Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to interface successfully with vendors.
Strong organization and record-keeping skills.
Strong leadership and management skills.
Strong decision-making skills.
An understanding of basic business economic principles.
Self-starter, innovative, team player, results oriented.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
